21. January 2026InnoCon Medical is proud to announce the successful implantation of the first Bar Electrodes in Danish patients. These initial patients are part of a broader feasibility study being conducted across three Danish hospitals.
The Bar Electrode, part of the UCon neuromodulation system, is a permanent percutaneous electrode that is placed in the clitoral hood to precisely target the dorsal genital nerve. Despite being designed for long-term use, the electrode can be temporarily removed for other medical procedures, such as MRI scans. Dorsal genital nerve stimulation has the potential to effectively manage symptoms associated with overactive bladder (OAB) and bowel dysfunction/fecal incontinence.
The implantation procedure of the Bar Electrode is straightforward and involves the use of lidocaine spray as the only anesthetic. This simplicity is further highlighted by the fact that procedures have been completed without any complications, allowing patients to quickly resume their daily activities with minimal disruption.
The feasibility study includes three Danish hospitals, Aarhus University Hospital, Odense University Hospital, and Herlev Hospital. A total of 20 female patients will receive the Bar Electrode - 10 with OAB and 10 with bowel dysfunction/faecal incontinence. Selection criteria for patients involved demonstrating a positive response to four weeks of dorsal genital nerve stimulation using the UCon Patch Electrode.
These successful implantations mark an exciting step forward in the evolution of neuromodulation therapy. At InnoCon Medical, we are impatiently awaiting the results of these trials and are excited to share our findings as we continue to develop the UCon system.
