UCon Patch Electrode obtains CE marking
20. May 2026We are proud to welcome Howard B. Goldman as the newest member of InnoCon Medical’s Clinical Advisory Board. Dr. Goldman is a Professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, where he serves as Vice Chairman for Clinical Affairs at the Glickman Urologic Institute. He is also Fellowship Director in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery within the Departments of Urology and Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Chair of the Education Committee of the International Continence Society. Dr. Goldman has a long-standing clinical and research interest in the dorsal genital nerve (DGN) as a potential target for neuromodulation in refractory overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms.
Throughout the year, UCon was evaluated across several clinical studies. Early in 2025, researchers from University College London (UCL) and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust published their evaluation of the UCon system in participants with spinal cord injury. Later in the year, collaborators from Radboud University Medical Center reported results from a pilot study on dorsal genital nerve stimulation (DGNS) for patients with Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder (PGAD).
The most recent publication from a Danish feasibility study on DGNS in patients with fecal incontinence (FI) and fecal urgency (FU) was published in Neurogastroenterology & Motility, reporting on safety, feasibility, and clinical outcomes. The study demonstrated, among other findings, significant reductions in FI episodes and strong FU episodes.
In August, Yan Peng, MD, from the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, visited Denmark to share clinical experience using UCon in spinal cord injury patients in China. The therapy was reported to be well tolerated, with preliminary observations indicating improvements in bladder capacity in all selected patients.
In addition, the University of Michigan enrolled its first patient in a clinical study investigating dorsal genital nerve stimulation with UCon for female sexual dysfunction. Several additional clinical studies remain ongoing, including a randomized controlled trial in Denmark conducted in collaboration with Herlev Hospital, Aarhus University Hospital, and Odense University Hospital.
InnoCon Medical thanks its collaborating clinicians, advisors, and research partners for their continued engagement and looks ahead to further clinical progress in 2026.
